Linda Zimmerman is the Executive Director of The Amit Program, a central Jewish
agency providing direct and in-direct educational services to families of children
with special needs ages birth to twenty-one. She began working at Jewish Educational
Services (JES) in September 1995 where she established the Special Needs Department.
In this role Linda provided consultation services to synagogues, preschools and
day schools to insure that children with learning differences have access to a quality
Jewish education. She also arranged teacher workshops and community symposium on
learning differences. This department grew into The Amit Program.
Linda is the Co-Chair of the Jewish Special Education International Consortium and
a member of the Inclusion Committee of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism
She is the past president of the board, and a current member, of the Interfaith
Disability Connection. She also participates in the Coordinated Network for Persons
with Disabilities in the Atlanta Jewish community as the educational component.
Linda is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation
Counseling. She has completed additional course work in learning differences and
is currently working towards a second Masters Degree in Educational Psychology at
Georgia State University.
