Title: Autistic Girl Expresses Profound Intelligence (0:09:53)

The Amit Gar'inim
School Program

The Amit Gar'inim School is a SACS accredited kindergarten through eighth grade Jewish day school serving children with diverse learning needs. The word Gar'inim, is the Hebrew word for seeds. We chose this name as our children are like the seeds of a sunflower. Each child is unique and will grow in their own way into strong, tall, vibrant adults. To meet the individual needs of each child Gar'inim offers:
  • Small group and individualized academic instruction
  • Speech and Occupational Therapy incorporated into the school day
  • Social/Emotional support which promotes self-awareness and self confidence
  • Integrated PE and arts programming with host school promoting overall well-being
  • Field trips which promote the generalization of learned concepts into everyday life

Gar'inim's unique program allows us to serve a wide range of learners including those with language based learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and those with other developmental delays and medical conditions.

Look What's Going
on at Amit...

The Gar'inim students had a fun day at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.  What a great way to kick off the month of Adar!

Our Yad B'Yad Sunday School students are using fun and exciting ways to learn Hebrew and Judaics.

Amit participated in the annual GAPSEC Fair at Perimeter Mall on Sunday, February 25th

Save the Date
Amit's Annual Event

Mazel Tov to our three deserving 2012 honorees, Helen Hackworth, Brenda Benamy Lewis and Sylvia Schwartz, who were honored on Sunday, March 25th for their accomplishments and contributions to special needs in the Atlanta Jewish community.  The event was chaired by Rachael and Jack Rosenberg and featured Judaica expert Jonathan Greenstein, who did an informative presentation on collecting Judaica followed by appraising over 60 items brought by guests.  One of the exciting finds of the day was a small painting of Rabbi's brought in by Talya Bloom.  The painting has been in her family since her childhood, and was identified as artwork from a time period in Jerusalem over 70 years ago.  In addition to the paintings monetary value of several thousand dollars, it is the sentiment of having something that reminds her of all the past places she has lived, which makes it priceless.  Thank you to all of the Amit staff and volunteers who made this day such a success.

Toilet Training Your Child

Time to say goodbye to diapers?  When do you know if you and your child are ready?  If you're not sure where to begin, come hear Dr. Roseanne Lesack, a Licensed Psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, discuss the many facets of toilet training including behavioral strategies.  Understanding the physical and emotional issues can be overwhelming and is a big step for kids and parents alike.  Dr. Lesack will tell you what you need to know to make this transition a positive one for you and your child.  The workshop will target children 18 months and older, both typically developing and developmentally delayed children.

Thursday, April 19, 2012 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Cost is $25 (includes training booklet with training system) (Limited to 20 participants)

The Amit Office, 6255 Barfield Road, Suite 100, Atlanta RSVP by April 12, 2012, to Debbie Berman, at 404-961-9966 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

ALEF Fund

Did you know that more than one third of all Jewish day school students in Atlanta receive financial assistance of some type?

Help our students receive an affordable Jewish education by contributing to the ALEF Fund today! It's not too soon to file for approval or to redirect your tax dollars in support of Jewish education.  You will receive a dollar-for-dollar State of GA Income Tax Credit and perhaps a charitable deduction on your federal return.  Last year the 50 million dollar cap was reached in early November.  This year it is anticipated that the cap will be reached as early as May if not sooner.  Once the cap is reached you will not be able to contribute until the next cycle.  Our school needs your help so .....
